With the news story of the scout leaders who destroyed the goblin rocks I wanted to point out a thing or 2. Please dont call these dads leaders. The Boy Scouts of America have extremely clear and strict rules concerning Leave No Trace along with behavior and protocols for outdoor adventures. Every leader (and scout!) goes through training on how to respect the environment as well as protocol for safety while outdoors. Pretty much every single scout rule concerning the environment was broke during that video. Any organization is only as good as its members. The training material is there. Leave No trace is required training before outdoor adventuring. Where are the scouts in all of this? Who is supervising the boys? Most likely their real leader. Just because a dad signs up to be an assistant that doesnt make them a scout leader. I am glad they were kicked out of scouting but feel bad for their kids. Scouting takes a lot of slack and blame. Some of this blame is justified while others are not. No trained scout leader .. anywhere on Earth would have done that. They know better.
