With the release of district grades today IPS has shown improvement in 2013 as compared to 2012. Overall IPS went from 0.24 points in 2012 to 0.96 points in 2013 (just points from a D) for an increase of 0.72 points While we understand the states need to apprise the public of school performance across the state, IPS will prioritize efforts that directly impact student growth. Certainly, we strive toward an A grade; and it is good that we are seeing evidence of improved student achievement. IPS expects at least a year’s academic growth annually for each student. Three Academic Focus areas are being implemented for the remainder of the year to ensure improved student achievement: o Data-Driven Decision Making o Teacher Evaluation o Mastery Learning Employing a laser-like focus to improve student outcomes will ensure improved school and corporation performance data across varying accountability models. Sure, making the grade is important…achieving student success is paramount.
