With the rise of the domain trading industry, came the inevitable creation of various alternative TLDs (top level domains) to the conventional domain. A small amount of these TLDs became commonplace themselves such as .net and .org whereas others such as .biz, .name, .agency and a myriad of others havent gained international recognition. In their defense, many of these alternative TLDs solely as domains for specific industries such as .biz representing business or a TLD such as .coffee which is of course targeted for coffee stores and cafes. While many of these TLDs have a specific target market, the majority can be legally owned by those not necessarily in that line of business but in some cases such as .aero (aviation) and .museums, the domains registrant must show proof of the domains intended usage for a legitimate website in the aviation industry or a legitimate museum website respectively. But despite this abundance of TLDs, the traditional TLD of remains the most recognizable and hence the most valuable of the TLDs.
