With the season coming to an end, I wanted to say thank you to - TopicsExpress

With the season coming to an end, I wanted to say thank you to everyone who has been involved in the program over the last four years. I could have never fathomed how much the program has come to mean to me since my freshman year. During the senior bonfire my freshman year, I listed the 2012 graduating class speak of the bonds they had made over their four years of marching, the family that is created within the program. Now I see what they meant. There will never be someone who does not care about you here. I watched these seniors cry at the end of the season, and I cried as well. Even thought I had only been with them a season, they treated me as more than just a bright-eyed freshman. They brought me under their wing, even after the season had ended, and helped me through my freshman year. I can only hope that I mean to the freshman what the class of 2012 means to me. This program, although it is larger than almost any other group in the school, is one of the most supportive. Over the last few years there are a handful of things I have learned: 1) There will always be someone in the hall to cheer you up when you are sad or celebrate when you succeed. Do not take that for granted. 2) Band moms will, 99% of the time, have what you need. Whether it is black socks or a comforting hug. 3) Never underestimate underclassmen. Although they are young, they are willing to learn. 4) Using cookies as bribery for your section will usually motivate them. To this year’s members: I amazed by your commitment to the program and the show. We have been pushed harder this year than any other year and you have held your own. I know the program will be in excellent hands once we leave. Do not doubt what you are capable of. Ever. Being able to share senior night with you guys is something I will never forget, even if it didn’t happen at the game. Although we only have Grand Nationals left in the season, now we each have a piece of the show to hold onto, our own “dot”. Now, at the end of our season, the only thing we have left to do is go down to Indianapolis and show why we deserve one more performance. Do not let anyone, not the person next to you or three dots down or seven people with judges sheets, stop you from having your best run of the season. Although I am leaving after this year, I could not have asked for a better way to end my time in the program. Thank you to the seniors who helped me out freshman year, Elise, Austin, Kati, Marty, and Chelsea. You made me fall in love with the program. You all still mean the world to me. Thank you to all of my wonderful band moms, Chelle Martin, Jodi Shiel Reetz, and Lyla Sadaka Dyer, for being there when I needed a hug or words of motivation. Most of all, thank you to Mike Steele and Paul Loos for running this amazing program that has come to mean so much to all of the students involved. Get ready to be the best you can be on Friday and know that the seniors this year are proud of everything we have accomplished together no matter what happens.
