Without question, Tolkien is one of my favorite authors, and part - TopicsExpress

Without question, Tolkien is one of my favorite authors, and part of the reason I love his works is his skill with language, or what I could call, his wordsmithy. He uses song, verse, and even the simple intricacies of language in the body of his works to convey mood and bring locations, peoples, and characters to life. But what Tolkien does with song and poetry, Brian Jacques does with food. The Redwall series is one of my favorite books also, and while Jacques has a definite skill for song and poetry also, it is his culinary descriptions that bring many of the peoples of his stories to life, and together with songs, stories, language, art, and so forth, help to bring his otherwise ridiculous characters to a similar depth and believability to any Hobbit or Silvan Elf. Whether it is DeepernEver Pie, Summer Strawberry Fizz, Abbey Trifle, Great Hall Gooseberry Fool, the food of Redwall and its surrounding lands will always make my mouth water!
