Witnessed some of rally today in DC. Last major rally I attended was Jon Stewart and Stephen Coberts Occupy rally on the mall. Before that, the Million Man March in 1995. I was in law school then and some of my girls and I thought wed go to support. Some men told us to go home. This was about the men. Others yelled, welcome sisters! Thank you for your solidarity. Before then, in undergrad, we took to the streets and shut down route 1 over the insensitivity of our Universitys major paper coverage of minority events and figures. Before then, it was the Rodney King beating. Before that, we skipped school to go to the South African embassy to protest over apartheid. Before that, it was just the stuff I read in our history books. Over 40 years, still rallying and protesting. The fore mothers and fore fathers fought and died so us youngins wouldnt have to. *sigh*
