Woke on Saturday morning to the last rays of the sun on the top of Mt Kenya, just before the clouds started rolling in. Today was the day I would be saying goodbye to one of my dearest friend, David. The Memorial was to start at 3:30, we arrived around 2:00 to drop off food. Cape Chestnut looked beautiful, there were hundreds of roses decorating the garden. We started taking our seats around 3:00. The clouds were even darker now and all of a sudden you could hear the rain coming. The heavens opened, and still they came by the hundreds, to say goodbye to one of the best men I have ever known. David would have definitely been laughing his socks off. The rain slowed a bit but never stopped, some huddled 2 or 3 under umbrellas, and others just stood in the rain. Nothing was going to stop these determined friends from saying goodbye to David. The service was short and sweet, just like he would have wanted it. And then we celebrated his life, with all our different stories of David with Sonja, Anna and Renate. We will meet again don’t know where don’t know when, but it will be a Sunny Day until then, Kwaheri Sasa dear David.
