Wolf encounter!!! A couple mornings ago I had a Farley Mowat moment with an encounter with a wolf in the south central Yukon. I was heli-dropped into remote spot to collect vegetation attributes when I looked to my right and there was this beautiful large black wolf, young with pricked eared and brilliantly glowing green eyes. It was no further than 50 away (ie 3 jumps) staring back at me. My first thoughts were he looks like Ziggy :-) It was truly an amazing moment for me, I wasnt scared or even the least bit nervous. I also felt the wolf was completely unnerved. We exchanged stares for a few seconds and I backed away slowly to complete my recordings, After more than 30 years in this business this is a hi-lite!!!! Bears can be scary but wolves are spiritual you dont get to see them often. I feel honoured!!!!
