The Molineux head coach was disappointed at the second-half fade-out that saw his side throw away a deserved 2-1 lead at half-time to draw 2-2 against a spirited Carlisle side, who dominated after the break. The loss of two more points cost Wolves the opportunity to draw level on points with League One leaders Leyton Orient after Prince Buaben and Liam Noble’s penalty cancelled out strikes from Bakary Sako and Leigh Griffiths. “The second-half performance was that poor, I didn’t think we deserved anything out of the game, so we did well to get a point,” said Jackett. “Carlisle wanted it more than us in that second half, when we were very poor. “In that second half we were in pole position and we didn’t show enough hunger and desire. “I’ve told the players that we need to do better than that.” “We were fortunate to get a point because Carlisle were the better side – we didn’t show enough running, hunger, desire or attitude to want to win. “We got off to a good start – Sako had an outstanding first half and could have had a hat-trick and I was really looking for us to push on from there. “But we got out-fought by Carlisle. They wanted it more than us, which was a disappointment.” Carlisle boss Graham Kavanagh described it as the “proudest moment” of his fledgling managerial career as he labelled his players “magnificent”. Jackett believes Wolves should be well aware of the opposition’s increased motivation levels. “Wolves in this division will produce a high motivation level of the opposition – we know that’s coming towards us,” he said. “But we didn’t capitalise on a good position last night and that’s disappointing.” Wolves took 1,335 supporters on the 360-mile round trip to Carlisle, with almost half taking advantage of free coach travel from the club. Jackett was disappointed his team didn’t repay them with a fitting performance. “There was unbelievable backing and they tried to lift the team all the way through the second half which was fantastic,” he said. “But that’s not the way it should be. The team should lift the fans and they didn’t.”
