Woman among 2 injured in Awantipora firing Srinagar | Two persons including a woman were injured after suspected militants opened fire at main Bazar Awantipora in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. Sources told GNS that two militants on a motorbike attacked police station Awantipora resulting in injuries to two civilians. A police spokesman in a statement issued to GNS said that two civilians were injured when militants opened fire in open market at Awantipora Bazar this afternoon. The injured persons have been identified as Farzana wife of Dr. Suhail Ahmad Tari resident of Rawalpora, Srinagar and Rafeeq Ahmad Sheikh son of Mohammad Ahsan resident of Achabal, Anantnag. “The lady has got injured in her thigh.” “Both the injured have been shifted to the hospital for treatment and their condition is said to be stable so far,” the spokesman added. Soon after the incident, Army and SOG cordoned off the Padgampora area of Awantipora and launched search operations. (GNS)
