Woman charged with shooting at boyfriend WELLSBORO - Christine A. Coffey, 50, of Ivyland, was charged by state police with aggravated assault, simple assault and reckless endangerment after she allegedly fired several shots from a .22 rifle at her boyfriend recently. According to documents filed at District Judge Rob Repards office, Coffey was at her seasonal cabin at 918 Baldwin Run Acres, Delmar Township, on Sunday for the holiday weekend. She learned her boyfriend, Christopher C. Haines, also of Ivyland, was staying at her brothers camp, which was within walking distance. Police said she and Haines were in the process of ending a long-term relationship. When she learned he was there, she retrieved her brothers Savage .22-caliber rifle with a 4x Leupold scope and approached the man in the woods. Police said she fired four rounds at him. Haines told police he was sitting at the base of a tree, trimming branches, when he saw Coffey about 50 yards away with the rifle. Haines said she pointed it at him and fired two rounds, and she then got closer and fired two more rounds. Coffeys brother, Charles S. Forney, 43, of Levittown, said he responded to the commotion and took the gun from her, at which point the gun went off again, police said. Forney said he pulled the magazine from the gun and it was empty. He then put the gun in his vehicle and gave it to police when they arrived. Coffey was jailed in lieu of $90,000 bail and her preliminary hearing set for June 3.
