Womens Ways of Knowing, authored by Belenkey, Clinchy, Goldberger - TopicsExpress

Womens Ways of Knowing, authored by Belenkey, Clinchy, Goldberger & Tarule, is a book about the cognitive and moral development of women. It takes emotions into consideration, something that is too often left out of the reasoning equation due to Western Societys tendency to want to divvy up processes into separate categories rather than integral components. It also may be an explanation for the increasing prevalence of narcissism, both generally and to clinical proportions. Lack of empathy is a character trait inherent in this clinical symptom cluster. Educating Rita is a beautiful film made in the 1980s about a female student and her male professor . . . how their evolving relationship teaches them both some very important lessons. However, if one watches closely, the process of Rita in her education also beautifully illustrates the very developmental stages that Womens Ways of Knowing illustrates. The film is free on youtube. I highly recommend. Michael Caine & Julie Walters. Gotta love them both. Here is a very moving clip:
