Wonderful field trip today! 5th grade was on the move! Hunnings/Howard wend to Camp Sea Gull to participate in First Tee (teaches kids about golf, goals, and determination) and Durci/Peters/Hale team went to Holtons Farm in Olympia. The kids learned about pre-tractor days on a farm, current farming equipment, the got to ride all over the farm in a hay ride, and then muddle their way through a corn maze! Ive never been in a corn maze and LOVED it! I saw some of the kids take leadership roles and some kids had smiles bigger than Ive see all year! One kid was scared to death wed run across a bear, coyote, or deer....while others were hopeful we would catch a glimpse (only a glimpse) of some wildlife. As we ate lunch under the wonderful shade among the pumpkins, they were telling their stories of the day and all I could do was just be all warm and fuzzy inside...this is what its all about and Im so thankful I can go to work and see these kids to help mold them daily.
