Word up yo! My Song is being played on BBC Radio 2 tomorrow! Woop woop! Since the last time I talked at you, I have been working my fingers to the bone! Writing songs with some amazing young artists like Joel Baker and Gareth Dunlop, (check them out!) to name just a few. But tomorrow is going to be a milestone for me. Since I first picked up a guitar at 17 years old there were a few things I wanted to achieve, I feel blessed that most of them I have managed to do, by hook or by crook...! I have been lucky enough to tour all over the world, played shows in some amazing cities from New York to Bangkok, Ive had songs on TV worldwide and on Radio in various different countries, I have been lucky enough to record and perform live at the world famous and totally inspiring Abbey Road Studios and I am now working with some really special young artists in some amazing studios all over London. I have been fortunate, in recent years, to meet Natalie Nissim, Steve Farris and the Snow Patrol lads who have taken me under their wings and are helping me grow as a songwriter and an artist every day, long may it continue. An eternal thank you and big assed man hug to Barney Groom for plucking me out of the Shire and setting me on the right path all those years ago! But... Tomorrow is a serious notch on the career post. On Sunday June 15th, Sir Terry Wogan will be playing my song Like My Father Said on his BBC Radio 2 show. The Shows starts at 11am and I dont know what time they will play it yet but Ill post on here and Twitter etc when I find out. I would really love for you all to tune in and listen..... You can tune in on your Radio at home or if you dont live in the UK you can listen online here - bbc.co.uk/radio/player/bbc_radio_two And a small favour from you if I may be so bold! I would REALLY appreciate and be humbly thankful to you all if you could all Email Sir Terry after the song is played to tell him what you thought of it and whether you would like to hear it again! Of course, I want you to be honest and not at all bias...! Hopefully it would go something like this - I really enjoyed Gary Nocks song on todays show, I would really like you to play more of his music or hear him live on your show ? Put it in your own words obviously! Or you could say something horrible and derogatory if you like... But hopefully not, ha! You can email Sir Terry during or after the show at this email address - [email protected] or if youre proper old school you can write to him at this address - Weekend Wogan, BBC Radio 2, London, W1A 1AA. The song will be available on a FREE DOWNLOAD! On soundcloud for all of Sunday, you can find it here - https://soundcloud/garynock/gary-nock-like-my-father-said Thank you so very much in advance! I couldnt have got to this point without all of your continued love and support and I thank you from the bottom of my weary heart. To think, a song I wrote in my little flat in Walsall 8 years ago, about a conversation I had with my Dad, is being played on BBC National Radio, based on its merit, I didnt win a competition ha! if I never get anymore air play in my life I will be ecstatic with this! And I know my dear sweet Mother will be smiling down on me saying thats my boy ! And I would rest happy with that. I am fulfilling an ambition I have had since I first picked up a guitar and I am so gratefully humbled by it all, thank you. And to my Dad, HAPPY FATHERS DAY!! You are my hero and I love you, thank you for teaching me such strong values and the importance of hard work and of having moral fibre. Sorry I cant be with you on Fathers Day but you can hear me on the Radio! And just like the mug says... BEST DAD IN THE WORLD! And Thank you again to all of YOU, Ive only just begun, got another couple of albums waiting to be made so lets keep it going YEEAAAHHH!!! Love and Peace Gary X PS - Come On England!! :-D
