WorkSafe New Zealand is the new Crown Agency that began life on 16 December 2013 WorkSafe NZs functions are to: 1. Advise Government on the workplace health and safety system, including co-ordination across the system. 2. Recommend changes to improve effectiveness of the workplace health and safety system, including legislative changes. 3. Monitor and enforce compliance with relevant health and safety law. 4. Recommend the funding levels it will require to carry out its functions. 5. Develop codes of practice. 6. Provide guidance, advice and information on workplace health and safety to health and safety duty holders and the public. 7. Promote and support research, education and training for workplace health and safety. 8. Collect, analyse and publish statistics and other information about workplace health and safety. 9. Share information with other agencies and interested people who contribute to workplace health and safety. 10. Foster good relationships between workplace health and safety duty holders and the people they owe a duty to, and their representatives. 11. Promote and co-ordinate workplace health and safety initiatives by creating partnerships or collaborations with other agencies or interested people. 12. Perform other functions or powers conferred by legislation. 13. Perform other functions that the Minister directs under the Crown Entities Act 2004.
