Working closely with the local R&D Engineers, as well as those from all the 5 R&D centres around the world, the Senior / Mechanical Engineer will develop ideas from concept to finished design and solve engineering issues and challenges pertaining to performance and functional criteria related to mechanical system of healthcare equipment and medical device for use in patient monitoring and patient care. He/she will develop new products with robust and efficient hardware from requirements analysis, architecture creation, detailed design, off-toll evaluation till mass production, ensuring a detailed and well-tested design. This position reports to an Engineering Manager. We are looking for a middle level and a senior level R&D Mechanical Engineer. The employer is a US MNC. Duties & Responsibilities • The mechanical engineer responsibilities includes defining, clarifying, designing, and documenting design; performing the necessary parametric analysis and testing; recognizing when interface impacts might occur and taking early action to avoid problems. • This position is expected to utilize quantitative approaches to design activities, to technology integration, strong capabilities and experience in mechanical engineering and processes, and diversified interdisciplinary experience and knowledge. • The senior engineer is expected to provide guidance to the other fellow mechanical engineers • Key to developing a highly integrated, safe, and accurate system are managing requirements and risks, establishing and ensuring appropriate processes, following best practices, and creating documentation to support development activities. • This position will be part of a cross-functional team that collaborates with external partners i.e. supplier to develop and manage requirements, generate system and component concepts, implement the solutions in hardware, perform experiments, analyse data, and ensure robust verification and validation testing. • You will also support or re-engineer existing products as needed. Play an active role in investigation, root cause analysis and determine appropriate resolution. Required Skills and Experience• Bachelors’ or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline is required • At least 3 to 10 years’ combined experience in developing mechanical and electro-mechanical sub-assemblies/ parts and products for the medical device, automotive, automation industry is required. • Strong knowledge in mechanical engineering design skills such as GD&T, tolerance analysis, kinematic simulation and analysis, FEA, failure analysis, sheet metal, plastic enclosure, rubber parts, extrusions, weldment and castings design. • Experience in evaluating design margins and reliability factors (tolerances, material strength and compatibility). • Good knowledge in material strength and process knowledge in metal stamping, mouldings die casting, machining, plating, welding and powder coating. • Proficient with 2D and 3D modelling software.• Well verse with DFMEA, risk assessment method, hazard analysis, design for manufacturing and design for Assembly. • Working knowledge of international standards applicable to medical devices, including FDA, ISO13485, ISO14971, and IEC60601 and its collateral standards. • Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) or Six Sigma experience is an added advantage • Proficiency with basic statistical techniques including familiarity with analysis of variance (ANOVA) and design of experiment (DOE) methodologies is an added advantage.
