Working my butt off trying to finish this pirate blanket. Ive got 29(*2) more rows to go (0_o) , but Ive just finished the last of the skull and crossbones rows. Yesterday I thought he kinda looked like an alien. Today hes got some swag! I had to attach a new skein of blue and the ends (which Ill hide later) gave him sort of a Michael jackson look. Im kinda proud of this creation, and I really want to get it into some contests. Def going to try to do the county fair, but havent found anywhere else to enter it. A lot of contests have (mere) $500 grand prizes and they get the copyright on your pattern. pfffsh. NO WAY! At least I can say that this project has helped me to embrace a little bit more of who I am. I like a lot of different things. I am good at a lot of different things. And for right now it is completely OK to develop this part of me to see where it goes. Ive never seen art as a viable option for a career, but this really could lead to so many different places, and the fact is that Im ENJOYING it. My mother would say Of course you are, its like youre on vacation, spending all your time on a hobby. Maybe. I say do what you love, and love the one youre with. (and yes the last half of that line is sung.) Ive updated my LinkedIn to reflect what I currently feel is my job/career/work path; and I am, finally, ok with it (linkedin/pub/heather-wienclawski/59/307/5a6 ). I think its an accurate reflection of me. And while the standards other people keep still haunt me, I feel sorta confident about this. I feel like Im finally heading in a forward direction and that Im simply preparing for whatever opportunity is just around the river-bend.
