Working on a presentation for work about college going culture. Came across this quote that influenced the type of literacy I had hoped to create in my ELA classroom...Critical Literacy. Critical approaches to literacy “offer an IDEOLOGICAL FRAMEWORK to uncover the realities behind hegemonic discourses and a standpoint from which to resist and transform social structures usually found to be oppressive” (Ernest Morrell).
