Working on my love book, reflecting on this particular paragraph. Can you relate, in some form or another, to this polarized inner world? At the heart of my inner work was an attempt to form a well-constructed self, essential to sustaining healthy connection: Solid me, solid we. Growing up in that home had left me with a completely polarized self-concept: either boastfully egoic or dreadfully self-hating. What I needed was to learn how to live in the middle, neither King nor trash, but healthily human. Without a balanced sense of self to come home to, my forays into relationship could not possibly sustain themselves. The key was to construct a healthy foundation to move from.
