The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the 20th edition of the mundial kick off on June 12 in Brazil. Some of the fans who spoke to NAN said that due to the time the matches would be played they would have to watch the matches at home. A trader, Dehinde Sanni, called on the electricity provider not to connive with owners of viewing centres to disrupt electricity supply during World Cup matches. It is even dangerous to go to viewing centres to watch matches these days due to the security challenges in the country, he said. Sanni maintained that the security situation dictated that one should be in the comfort of his home to enjoy the World Cup. I appeal to football fans that may want to got viewing centres to be security conscious, he said. Another soccer enthusiast, Sunday Odeniyi, said that the unwanted noise of electricity generators at night was not healthy. The noise of generators at night could be annoying or disturbing to people who are not football fans and want to sleep, Odeniyi said. He, however, said that IBEDC should ensure that there was steady supply of power for fans to watch all the matches. A businessman, Tunji Omorodion, described the World Cup as the biggest football event any fan of the game would not like to miss. He expressed full confidence that the Super Eagles would do well in the Mundial. NAN reports that Nigeria is group F alongside Argentina, Iran and Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Super Eagles will play their first match on June 16 against Iran. (NAN)
