World Cup review: The World Cup is well underway in Brazil. After the hosts kicked things off on Thursday, Holland raised the bar and ran riot against the World and European Champions Spain, defeating them 5-1 with Arjen Robben and Robin van Persie spearheading the Dutch demolition. Costa Rica then pulled off a shock, defeating the much-fancied Uruguay by 3 goals to 1, with Arsenal youngster Joel Campbell at the heart of everything good for the underdogs. He racked up a goal and an assist to throw Group D wide open. The other game in Group D saw a young England team fall to the Andrea Pirlo-led Italy side. Claudio Marchisio had opened the scoring in the first half, before Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge levelled things up. Controversial striker Mario Balotelli then put the Italians ahead and England were unable to recover. All eyes on Sunday turned to the Maracana, where Lionel Messis Argentina took on World Cup debutants Bosnia and Herzegovina. Despite a quiet first half, Messi showed his class in the second and scored a fantastic goal to lead the South Americans to a 2-1 victory.
