World championship in the southern Danish dialect: The Danish - TopicsExpress

World championship in the southern Danish dialect: The Danish trade association “Guderup i Centrum”, located on the island Als in the southern part of Denmark, invites everyone to the very first world championship in “synnejysk” on 31 August 2013. “Synnejysk” or “sønderjysk” is a special dialect of the Danish language, spoken in Southern Denmark. The dialect is special because it differs significantly from other dialects across Denmark which makes it difficult to understand for Zealanders among others. The competition is for everyone who speaks “synnejysk” and is free of charge. Foreigners and Danes incapable of mastering this bizarre dialect are also very welcome at the event. Throughout the day, there will be entertainment between the games and opportunities to buy delicious food from Southern Denmark. Deadline for sign-up is 31 July 2013. Please find more details at the Embassy homepage (sorry – only in Danish): thailand.um.dk/da/om-os/nyheder/newsdisplaypage/?newsID=E77DDE3B-D313-4DB1-B9A5-DD458A0CECF6 If you wish to practice your “synnejysk” dialect in the meantime, the below video might lend you a helping hand: youtube/watch?v=h99GVH-AqZc&list=PLD182EF8FB10E32DE
