World-class leader, Pat Darrah, appointed to Order of Canada. Thank you for all youve done for Saint John #renaissancecity Pat was one of the first people to step forward to offer to help our Council in any way he could. Whether serving on the Advisory Board to Enterprise Saint John, sitting on numerous boards, playing a key role in the location of a medical school in Saint John he is a leader to be emulated. In many ways he is the perfect definition of a leader without a title as described by Robin Sharma. Pat has always led from where he is, set incredible goals and never been afraid to dream the biggest and best for his City. Below is part of the story that was published in the Telegraph Journal: Darrah, the man credited with helping bring the 1985 Jeux Canada Games to the Port City as well as being involved in the development of Market Square, the Imperial Theatre, and Harbour Station, was named to the Order of Canada with 94 others on Friday. He is the lone resident of Saint John to be given the honour. But he doesn’t really think it’s his alone. ... Darrah received the Order of New Brunswick in 2011, in addition to numerous accolades bestowed upon him by organizations such as the YMCA, the Canadian Society of Association Executives, and the United Way. He has also been given the Queen’s Jubilee Medal. Darrah, now 78, has spend half a century trying to improve the Port City. He was executive director of the Saint John Construction Association and through his hard work, all unionized construction workers now have health benefits and pensions.
