Worship: An A Priori Concept or an Empirical Evidence of Our Relationship with God As part of our normal worship sessions during Church Services or Christian Group Meetings, there is usually some time allotted for Worship. It is during these sessions that the Worship leaders encourage us to express our reverence and adoration for God and we commence pronouncing all of God’s attributes in awe of His name. But this session is just an iota of what God expects of us as His people called by Him unto a life of righteousness and eternity. True worship, I must emphasize is a daily ongoing activity which is a part of our ordinary lives here on earth. Romans 12:1-“Brethren, I plead with you to offer yourselves as a living sacrifice holy and acceptable unto God. For that is our true act of worship…” This connotes a life of self denial and total obedience unto the Word of God; living a life in accordance with the precepts and dictates of God and a total departure from the tenets of worldliness. Sacrifices are placed on an altar and burnt as pleases the offeror and offeree. If Paul beckons us to offer our lives as a living sacrifice, it implies that we die to the materialistic desires of carnality and allow God to transform our being into conformity with His will. Thus, we die to the world but are alive in Him. It is when God’s holiness is perfected in us, that our lives rise before God as a sacrifice in worship of Him. This is what God requires of us dear brethren….a life of holiness. God richly bless us all as we decide to die to the flesh and live for God. Amen!
