Would it be possible for us to take a few moments and think about - TopicsExpress

Would it be possible for us to take a few moments and think about all the positive things that just happened in Valley East this weekend and try to overlook the few things that there might be to complain about. I am not disregarding the complaints, but just think about the work that went into the planning, preparation and organization of the two largest events of the year in this community. Think about what the people behind the scenes have done for this community. The Valley Pentecostal Church Family Festival was unbelievable! It was a huge community gathering all Saturday afternoon. At the same time, the Valley East Days at the Hanmer Valley Shopping Centre was drawing the largest crowds in the history of the event for a Saturday. The evening concerts on both evenings were very successful. This is being hailed as one of the most community-focused weekends in a long, long time in Valley East. Next week, on Wednesday and Thursday, we are going to be hosting the largest Mining Expo in the history of Sudbury - not just in the history of the Valley, but the history of Sudbury. There are going to be over 300 vendors and exhibitors and over 1000 cars will be parked on the lot at the Centennial Arena just for the organizers and vendors. The general public is invited to attend this spectacular event, free of charge and so many people are expected that the parking has to be at the K of C lot on Emily Street with buses being shuttled back and forth every ten minutes. Then to cap everything off, next Saturday, September 13, we have the first annual Spudsbury Potato Festival in Blezard Valley and we are hoping for crowds of between 500 and 1000 for that event. This has been one of the most remarkable weeks I can remember since Ive been living in this community, and I moved here over 40 years ago. So if there is some garbage left over in some places after the clean up volunteers do their thing on Monday, then perhaps someone else will go and pick it up. I am even willing to go around on Tuesday with a garbage back and pick up around the mall streets if they miss anything. But for now, lets hear from the people who had a good time and who enjoyed themselves. Lets wait until next week to file complaints after we have finished one of the most remarkable weeks in the history of the Town of Valley East. For now, lets roll out the red carpet and welcome all of the visitors who will be coming to Valley East for the first time ever this week and lets celebrate our heritage next Saturday. Lets wait until everything is over and then we can do a full review and figure out how to do things better the next time. For now, I am just enjoying the celebration. Please tell us about the good things that happened to you this weekend and share some of your favourite pictures.
