Would you just listen to this character! Hamish Macdonell oozes - TopicsExpress

Would you just listen to this character! Hamish Macdonell oozes that offended sense of entitlement that pervades British nationalism. He talks about a public meeting but does so in terms that clearly imply that he expects it to be nothing more than a wee photo-op for some visiting British politician. A chance for this unnamed British politician to sally forth from their lair in London to peddle the lies, smears and scare stories of Project Fear completely unchallenged. The man is a clown! He is oblivious to the glaring contradiction of urging anti-independence campaigners to speak out in defence of the union, while simultaneously insisting that they should only have to put their arguments to already committed No voters at an exclusively pro-union meeting. Is this not typical of Better Together? While the Yes campaign is holding open meetings where the general public are encouraged to come along, express their views and ask questions, the No campaign is only interested in controlled set-piece events stage-managed so that their friends in the media can spin it to look like some kind of groundswell of popular support. He cant see it, of course, but Hamish Macdonell is part of the No campaigns problem. Or, at least, he nicely illustrates it. Not only does Better Together have no meaningful, persuasive arguments in favour of perpetuating the failed union, they arent even prepared to take such arguments as they do have to the people for fear that they will disintegrate under no more than the mildest of scrutiny.
