Wow. Having major issues with FTM 2012 the past few days. It was taking forever to sync and then I would cancel. Then I tried doing a backup and compact - same issue. (I have a really large tree) Then I finally ran a successful backup this evening which took a few hours. Then FTM stopped working during the compact. Two or Three times before it finally worked. Now I cant enter any new data - if I do it crashes. :(
