Wow I am still bewildered that people actually believe that shooting & blowing up others & their homes & lives is going to bring peace. The only way to do this is to exterminate everyone of them. A number of occupying forces have tried this in many places globally (here being one). Ethnically cleansing a country or area is the killing or dispossessing a population from their ancestral homes. Even if a person or population is subjugated into slaves the eventually rebel or turn on their captors. I cant believe that people still feel this is a ethically & or morally appropriate action. The premiss that a group of people can be offered a place to settle in an area that was already occupied and they were meant to share with other people of the same language group (Semites) after being the recipients of a horrific ethnically cleansing program can then systematically respond to the local populations ever increasing ire by occupying more land & not breed the sort of response that they get & not be willing to acknowledge that they are perpetuating exactly what they suffered just astounds me! Lets be really clear here. I do feel that the gesture of creating a place in the ancestral home area of the Jewish people for the Jewish people was a generous & well meaning effort after the horrors of WW1 & 2. Yet as a occupying people it is these people that must work with the people there to negotiate something that works. I also believe that using violence by either side has escalated this conflict. Once it became an armed conflict Targeting civilians is especially bad .& at least amplifies if the source of the hatred if not also being the source that is keeping driving this atrocity. & I know that at least some people within a group culturally connected people living in an area under going the same occupation & entrapment & decimation would use what means they had to resist & fight back. This does not excuse the means (which I find personally repugnant) just acknowledges that revenge & fighting back is the logical result form most people of having your family & homes & society being shot bombed & destroyed. & that as much as a random small rocket being shot randomly into my home town & the possibility of a suicide bomber are terrifying this does not justify the ethnical cleansing or destruction of a people & their home. Especially if my home town has been built on land that was theirs & was taken at gun point. That this is justified on religious or ideological grounds is no different from the ideological horrors of China in Tibet, Japan in China, the displacement imprisonment & assimilation of Indigeous people here & globally, the colonial powers in Africa, East & West Asia & the Americas as well as in Europe by the Nazis. Its wrong. We all know it if we are truly honest & have the integrity to look at this clearly. Perpetrators will of course perpetuate it.
