Wow! Now heres a FIND! El Paso Museum of History, 510 N. Santa Fe Street, El Paso, TX 79901, owns this 1901 American Fire Engine Company Metropolitan 1st size steamer #2789, originally Engine 2, quartered at Stanton and Overland, El Paso, TX. After 114 years, it still has all of its original paint and gold leaf from the factory in Seneca Falls, NY, where it was built.Note that the lettering on the coal bunker behind the boiler, is right-hand shaded. Most fire apparatus lettering of both the steam and motor eras was left shaded.
