Wow! The three bars run by the same management group are closed due to not paying their rent. What a disaster. But the comments in other groups confuse me. Countless people are blaming the Town for this. OK... first, I do understand that if our town had managed the post-fire years better we wouldnt be as messed up as we are, but as far as the specific bar situation? If you dont pay your rent, you get locked out! Pretty basic. If the three bars are not viable, then perhaps opening one would have made more sense. Anyhow, I really hope that staff that worked there are not left high and dry in regards to wages. What a mess! What is the answer? The Sandbar will still be open. So do they run a better business? Do they attract more customers? The main end has gradually become measured by the bars. I personally think that is the tragedy. If the town had allowed rebuilding after the fire then some of the old businesses (restaurant, arcade, stores) might have rebuilt. When the area was turned into a parking lot, we lost our identity. We really need to rebuild. Not just the bricks and mortar, but the identity. When will this turn around for Wasaga?
