Wow! What a find. The Tubes doing White Punks on Dope live. This is really over the top theatre-rock. I miss this kind of thing in live music. I think the thing that gets me with a lot of bands is their lack of surprise. They play very well but there is a lack of that extra element of spectacle. The kind of thing that the Tubes, or Bowie, or Roxy Music did got people talking. Not only was the music good but they gave you something to watch and talk about later. The closest thing Ive seen to that on a local level is Jason Gaarder. Anyway...have a look at this black and white video of one of my favorite bands.....
