Wow, everyone, I truly appreciate your warm responses and kind support for my purchase of Earl!! I can only say that I am just as excited as all of you...ok, I think that I am much more excited?!! LOL I have been typing non-stop since 7 p.m. and already see that I will need to type faster?! I appreciate your enthusiasm and only know mine surpasses it?! I want to know all about the Earl foals that you presently own and the future ones that all of us will have together?!! So, of course, I have a business plan for Earl and his future foals while also being very cognizant of the high expenses that are involved in breeding our mares to studs...vet fees are so high while I do not believe in nickel and diming mare owners with hidden fees, high shipping costs, collection fees, and high chute fees. Candidly, I feel that the inflated breeding farm fees which appeared to evolve during the Kentucky Incentive Fund frenzy were not justified and should have been eliminated since the 2008 financial implosion. Also, the breeding bubble that had been present from 1995-2008 may never again be duplicated with the present demographics and lack of interest in breeding and the horse industry? Therefore, many breeding farms are still responding from that bubble rather than reacting to the realities that mare owners are now facing in raising foals...a contraction in interest and higher breeding costs that do not translate economically when selling prospects. It is an ugly reality that I have seen in the number of foals for every Hunt Seat stud that I have researched during the past two weeks along with most of the Western Pleasure studs. I hope to be sensitive to the market conditions while making an investment in Earl or Steel worth the economic risk and heartache that every mare owner faces when selecting a stud for their mare. Ideally, if I owned my own place, I could change pricing more easily...I do not. However, I am working on the selection of a facility where Earl and Steel will be treated with love while I will be the go-to person for every mare owner....you talk to me and I will try my hardest to accommodate your needs and those of your mare or vet. I demand customer respect and service while I will also demand a vet rather than a technician. Yes, this is more costly, but your breeding dollars will not pay for this...I will do so. I also want every shipment to be analyzed so that poor shipments will be eliminated while things do happen in shipping that are beyond anyones control. However, if the semen is of poor quality, I sure do not want it going out and wasting the mare owners money. Earl ships well, and I will be disclosing his semen report from the University of Pennsylvania, New Bolton Center for documentation and assurances to mare owners. I will also try to decrease the Fed Ex expenses from the present average of $250-$275 since it is not that expensive. Also, I will NOT have mare owners send back the disposable shipping boxes...that is my expense, too. They are not made to be re-used and in doing so, the mare owners can suffer in the quality of the semen and the risk of exposure to heat since the box is compromised once the original seal is broken. As many of you know, I personally believe in a 3 year exposure to a stud unless the first foal is truly not what I like. Why do I go back to a stallion 3 times if I really like the foals? Simply, it helps me with marketing the subsequent foals after I have made a substantial investment in my mare and that first foal. If it is really, really nice, why wouldnt I go back? With the second foal, I can continue to market it by longe lining the first foal, and then by the 3rd foal, I may have the first foal in the show pen as a rider...ideally. At that time, I then go to other studs unless I love the cross and then I stay with it...why not? I did this with Winnie The Tiger and War Kelpie with great success along with Sugar Boys Shawnee, the dam of Congress and World Champion, Chips Sugar Cookie. So, there are few secrets in breeding, but I am trying to stretch my investment dollars for every foal and a successful foal helps sell the full siblings over half-siblings. With this personal belief in mind, I will also be offering a 3 year breeding package to Earl with possibly incorporating The Game Changer in the future, too. I have admired and examined the competition and most of them are $1,500-$2,000 which I grasp and respect a great deal. However, I am making a new future for Earl and me along with all of you. I am going to offer a 3 year, breeding package for $2,250 in 2015 with $1,125 paid in January, 2015 and $1,125 paid in January, 2016 for 3 breedings from 2015-2017. I will accept mare substitutions while the breedings may also be sold with approval and written notification when fully paid. If a person wants to use it on 3 mares in 1 year or over a 3 year period, I am open to it. However, I will be offering Earl at $1,500 to the public after January 1 which will include 1 Fed Ex shipment. For the Moms Know Best introduction to Earl, I am going to offer his stud fee from the present through 12/31/2014 at $750 while the shipped semen fee will be negotiated so that it is ideally at no more than $200...I am working on it. I will not be charging chute fees in addition to the stud fee. Therefore, your investment will be $750 and the Fed Ex fee. If there are further Fed Ex shipments, they will be the responsibility of the mare owner which is the norm although again, I will work with you. I will offer a stud fee of $500 to Earl to any Congress Champion or World Champion or to Congress Champion or World Champion producers while working out the Fed Ex with you. I am trying to make all stud fees transparent. I will have fees on the FB page and website. I do hope to raise Earls fee to $2,000 by the 2017 breeding season to reward those who are making a 3 year investment in him or for those who are giving him a chance to cross with their mare in 2015. The worse thing that a mare owner has to face is a reduced stud fee...it needs to be increasing to help market those foals in the future. Finally, for those mare owners who will join me in the 3 year breeding investment, I will be paying out 10% from all package breeders to those foals showing in the 2017 Quarter Horse Congress Hunt Seat Longe Line class. I will guarantee $5,000 but hope that the real figure will be much higher. The 3 year investment program starts in 2015 and then each year, it will increase $250 to correlate with his increased public stud fee which will not include this incentive. Therefore, his public stud fee will be $1,500 in 2015; $1,750 in 2016; and $2,000 in 2017 to match those fees presently being charged by his competition. For the 3 year breeders, it will be $2,250 for those investing in 2015; $2,500 in 2016; and $2,750 for those investing in 2017...a rolling investment opportunity. I am grateful that Earl may be included for your consideration for your special mare...I truly appreciate your trust and interest. So, as I am trying to sort all of this out and making a final selection of a breeding facility with the right vets, I simply ask for a written indication from you for your mare while I will respect your interest and not ask for a final decision until you have all of the facts and figures in front of you before paying a penny in January, 2015. This is not only a Congress special, but it is a 2014 introduction to Earl! I am open to all thoughts, criticisms, and help in making this work since I spent years in dreaming about breeding to Congress and World Champion stallions but could not afford it for many years. I am trying my hardest in trying to make Earl available to you so that you may enjoy his great foals. We love his yearling filly with her phenomenal mind...she is the real deal, like Niki, too. THANK YOU all so very, very much since I assure you that I will answer every email tonight, but I hope that this note helps with all of the questions and shows you that I am the person to talk to on a daily and nightly basis. Earl is my new company while I hope to be adding Steel in the future, too...a twofer package! k
