Wow, the latest GFS model does indeed show rare bombogenesis of a low pressure system between Sunday afternoon to Monday afternoon. While bombogenesis is a bit of a new buzzword, the definition is a 24 millibar drop in atmospheric pressure within 24 hours. The latest GFS shows a 27 mb drop with this storm during that time period. While this this type of rapid intensification does tend to occur across the water (especially of the US East Coast), it is much more rare over land. What does this mean for our weather? It looks like a threat for locally heavy rain along with strong, gusty winds. Wind gusts of 30-40mph will be possible. Higher wind gusts could occur closer to Lake Erie (and the other Great Lakes). This is an impressive storm on the models for early next week. However November is known to have some bigger, stronger storm systems.
