Wow, were on a roll! Another senior Hacks/Hackers - Africa activist, Dr Carolina Ödman-Govender, has been named as one of South Africas top 200 Young Thought Leaders for 2014. Carolina is a volunteer organiser with the #HacksHackers chapter in Cape Town, as well as a member of other #OpenData communities such as the the local Open Knowledge Foundation Network group and various open science groups. Carolinas day job is as chief scientist at Thumbzup, a South African local startup developing the Payment Pebble. She is also an associate scientist at the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) space telescope. Carilona joins another Hacks/Hackers organiser, Siyabonga Afrika (profiled below) and two other activists from our network on the list of Young Thought Leaders: ANCIR investigtions editor Khadija Sharife and Code4SA director Gabriella Razzano are also on the list. They are all recipients of seed grants from the African News Innovation Challenge.
