Wrap up report from 2 day trip Moore About Fishing/Fisheye Channel. We had a tank of jumbo anchovy and made a tank of squid at Catalina on our way to Cortes Bank. Weather was up on the bank but very fishable. We managed 3 Bluefin Tuna and 3 Large Yellowtail for the day. Several Yellowtail lost due to depth restriction on the bank. We used to anchor off the edge more to avoid losing so many fish in the rocks plus BFT always hung out more in the 25-30 fathom edge. Lots of Huge Bonita sucked up most fly lined bait and made it near impossible to get to BFT that made a show in the chum here and there. Made a choice to head for San Clemente Island based on conflicting weather reports. As it turned out we should have stayed Offshore. SCI was not biting very well. Did find some decent Calico Bass fishing on the backside, but the front side was blazing hot and NO FISH AT ALL. This is just a reminder to me. Go With Your Hunch ... Instinct Gut Feeling. Filter out the baloney from sources that are questionable. We still had a great time on the Liberty and made some new friendships that I think will continue on. Last Notes on this trip. That boat is Fast ! And I had forgotten how comfortable the deck is to fish from AND the crew were super friendly and polite ... Rick / Fisheye will be busy editing and have a video up soon.
