Writing has always come naturally to Eric. Not so much for me, but because of him am getting better. Today, I found myself dragging my feet when it came to this post. I knew I wanted to write something about my brother’s death-versary. Eric lost his life at the mine in Tanzania on a Friday. It was the last operational day; they were to shut down the project that very day and head off for the New Years holiday. Unfortunately, he never made it out alive. I keep replaying the day he died in my mind, his last moments … too awful for words. Eric, I am sad because I feel in this world you did not fully comprehend how much you were loved. But I know you are an angel now and I think now you do. You are free. I never thought you would be the first of us siblings to go. You were supposed to write my obituary. I know I will never get over the loss of you, lil bro. But I am forever thankful for the time together and precious memories. I also want you to know that your kids are doing great. D. is doing a great job with them. They miss you of course but they have a good support network. Danny and I spent the summer together and even played a few games together. Hate to tell you, The kid will be a better soccer player than you. D. signed him up for soccer camp, so hes really getting his game on. Ritta and Joe have recently spent some time with Luka, hes a ladies man with the baddest & cutest Afro. Monica cant get enough of that Afro! You would love what they have become. Love you kid brother. Miss you every day. To Domonique , Daniel, Luka, Monica and Ritta , I know you will feel lost and very anxious today. I wish we were all together at his grave today- maybe it would give us a tiny amount of peace but we are all hundreds of miles apart. I hope you wake up and do what gives you comfort, what feels right, knowing Eric, its what he would have wanted for you all more than anything. I think today I will go out for a run while listening to Erics favorite artist - Tu Pac, Even if the weather sucks. And maybe eat a lot. Eric loved to eat, hed eat pretty much everything .....except African duck (Monica Annie & Helge - I bet this rings a bell). And to all family and his friends; please feel free to share some of your fondest memories of Eric.
