Written by a visitor to the FB Page It saddens me that many who have voiced their concerns to the situation here with the ‘over-clear-cutting’ taking place to the point of ending with literally, NOTHING left, in a place where 7 of 12 endangered species in the entire province, reside, (Or did until this disaster), are not standing up with strong voices to their own and every councilor. Speaking out to our MP and MPP may not be a bad idea either. The proposed by-law does NOT TAKE ANYTHING AWAY, rather, it stands to offer farmers and the entire region, MORE: More security (healthy land, IS security for future)…More value to our homes…More opportunities to develop tourism initiatives…More attraction to relocators…More initiative to get up and learn to grow as according to actual OMAFRA guidelines…More of a chance to sustain healthy land overall for future growing operations…More filters necessary to control and help dispose of the tremendous amounts of poisons EACH of us are left to breath, drink and touch and which, know or not, affects EACH of us every day re: Arthritis, heart problems, lung diseases, depression, cancers (highest rate of all of Canada), kidney disease, aneurysms, immune system failures, – are affected by it. CK has the highest rates for mortality, cancers of all types, illnesses overall, deaths and unbelievably…highest rate to curable illnesses. (Stats Canada). Will we say no to the fight for a healthier and more prosperous place in which to live? WHAT ABOUT OUR CHILDREN, WHO ARE ALL LEAVING THE MOMENT THEY CAN BECAUSE (IN THEIR OWN WORDS PER OVER ONE HUNDRED CASUAL INTERVIEWS, THERE IS NO PROSPERITY FOR THEM. These children – OUR children, WANT environmental initiatives because they are intelligent enough to know environment means employment, tourism, higher real estate values and health. THE PROPOSED BY-LAW IS OVERLY FAIR, considering by-laws, long-standing across Canada and North America because our idea is to WORK TOGETHER. This is a matter riding on positive, not negative values. The by-law is NOT ABOUT BEING AGAINST ANYONE, BUT ABOUT BEING ‘FOR’ our hard-working farmers and landowners. It is about trying to help our farmers sustain, increase, and improve their yields AND DO SO ON LESS LAND, which equates to less work, less cost, and less risks as well as providing a future of healthy land on which to continue growing, while being champions of the land and its overall well-being. How does negative come from all this positive? We are working (hard) to keep the land in Chatham-Kent our own. Have we looked at it that way? For hundreds of years, our ancestors who owned this land could have taken ‘it all’…but, they did not, because they knew what the implications overall would be to the future, if they did. They were the driving force of your futures now. Will we let them down? Will we let our children down? We are choosing not to fight, heart and soul, to sustain our children’s land and lives, by offering them a healthy, prosperous, and economical future; a place in which to work and grow, just as our forefathers provided us. Will we prove to the world, that Chatham-Kent grows healthy produce because it maintains healthy land and environment…..or not. To turn our backs now, means there will be no turning back. There will be no changing of minds ever again. What we lose now, we will never recover. Shall we go ahead to tell our children, we simply did not care about their future?
