Black women were so infuriated and repulsed by the Aunt Jemima slave icon representing their only recognized contribution and worth to society that black women with strategic help from the black underground formed a massive, nationwide all-out and united boycott against the Aunt Jemima product that brought great and intense heat to bear upon Quaker Oats. Without negotiation Quaker Oats gave way to the massive solidarity from black women and replaced the slave icon with the more corporate looking aunt Jemima that appears on the box today. Quaker Oats then hired Mary Dee from the black underground to make the peace with the black woman and encourage the black woman to end the boycott of their product. Don’t worry about losing your job, friends or being alienated because when you are good at what you do the 21st century will receive and accept you as you are. No matter how hard, how long, how unattractive you may feel or have been told, don’t give in to self-esteem issues or peer pressure.
