XUL (Dog; God of the Wind; Philosopher) JUL 11 – JUL 30: https://facebook/photo.php?fbid=222000094556235 ------------------------------------------------------------------ Although we have yet to come across a literal name and translation of this winik’s (Mayan month) “Classic” Mayan time-space meaning, current Maya and many before them know Xul as the “Dog.” When Xul’s glyph is compared to Ok’s glyph of the Chol Q’ij (Mayan sacred calendar), we can see certain differences and similarities. Of the similarities that we’d like to note are imagery that seems to depict focuses of observation and communication. Dogs are known to observe their environment through keen senses of smelling and hearing. They are also known to communicate and respond to their environment through auditory means like barking, crying, growling etc. One similarity we see in the Chol Q’ij and Haab (Mayan Solar year) glyphs of “Dog” are what we may interpret to be waves of sound emanating from around Xul’s and Ok’s mouth. Throughout this winik some Maya peoples celebrate “Chicc-kaban,” a festival respecting the Mayan deity Kukulcan, and his focus of breathing winds of knowledge that shape concepts and cultures, and thus societies and civilizations, across Earth. In consideration of this knowledge and more, Still Alive 2012 will show its deepest regard to our Mayan Ancestors by sharing the following concepts of Xul with All: Xul is a winik of quiet scouting and search that may drive our movement through time and space ever closer towards our destination and end goal(s) for this Haab. Xul exiting its domain and entering ours, gives way to Kase’w entering its domain and exiting ours. With the entrance of Kase’w, we let go of the many things that may have hindered the completion of solidifying our foundation of focus for this Haab. The exit of Xul brings to us the full affect of Kukulkan; Mayan deity of creation, symbol of perspective and vision, messenger of knowledge, and bringer of culture and change. It is in this winik that all we have and will put forward towards bringing our goals closer to us will sprout and grow. We must observe our impact on the environment around us carefully, for some of the seeds we have soiled, and their sprouting bodies, may not be as clearly observable as others; but they are there... Through keen and careful observation we will know the seeds of our foundations and understand their sprouting and growth. It is this understanding that guides Kukulkan to us and relieves him of the stresses of the unchanging; just as the burning of incense through aromatherapy aids us in relieving the stresses of our daily lives. The true recognition of our sprouting wills is like igniting a spark; that will burn and carry through the wind, the most pleasurable and divine of scented incense. Like Xul, Kukulkan will use a keen sense of smell to find this incense and bring to him the environment of his will; that of conceptual change. Through the focus of God Kukulkan: Be as keen in observation as our fellow life Xul – listen, smell, and scout carefully, because upon the New Sun’s exit we want to fully understand and know our positions to be able to present them transparently, honestly, and without fallacy. Be as wise as Xul in communication – vocalize carefully and honestly; because before Xul enters its domain, your influence through mine, will breathe and blow the forces of conceptual, cultural, and civil change throughout this realm of reality. From the heavens and cosmos may the winds of change carry you onward towards directed realizations this Haab.
