YABLOKO’s initiative not to name a Moscow metro station after a Bolshevik’s executioner got support Press Release, 25/09/2013 The #Moscow authorities supported the initiative of the #YABLOKO party and renamed the new metro station formerly named “Ulitsa Dybenko” (Dybenko Street, named after Bolshevik’s executioner Pavel Dybenko) in Hovrino proposed by YABLOKO. Moscow Mayor Sergei #Sobyanin informed the public about renaming of the #metro station at the Moscow government meeting on Tuesday. “We in Moscow should not rename the projects under construction only. In the perspective there should be no streets named after murderers and terrorists in Moscow. I propose to start such changing of names from Dybenko street. A possible name for it is Hovrinskaya”, said Sergei #Mitrokhin, YABLOKO leader. In April 2013 the Moscow branch of YABLOKO strongly opposed naming of a new metro station in the north of Moscow after Pavel Dybenko, one of the organisers of the coup d’etat of 1917 and a prominent figure of the Red Terror. YABLOKO insisted that the new metro station should be named Hovrino, after Grigory Hovrah an architect who worked in the 15th century and is known for his beautiful temples. eng.yabloko.ru/?p=1456
