YES on Measure Q. This is a video of Dr. Tom Pierce, Economics Professor at CSUSB, discussing the need to pass Measure Q this election and give the City Council the power to manage the budget and provide much needed services to the people of San Bernardino. Right now, Police and Fire pay are set as the average of 10 other California cities. All of these cities, although they have a similar population size, are significantly wealthier than San Bernardino, meaning the average pay requirement accounts for over 50% of the citys budget. With less control over the budget, the City Council is forced to cut important services like road maintenance, parks and recreation, and libraries, which hurts everyone. Police and Fire are in full swing fighting Measure Q. They want you to think it will make the city less safe. But when the city is forced to pay a certain amount per police officer and firefighter, they are forced to hire fewer police officers and firefighters. YES on Measure Q will not only help improve the citys financial state, but will allow the city to negotiate police and fire pay so that more police officers and firefighters can be hired. Measure Q must be passed if we want San Bernardino to improve. We have to be able to manage our own budget, and not be subject to a formula based on richer cities. We have to be able to provide important services. And we have to be able to hire enough police and firefighters to keep us all safe. So vote YES on Measure Q. Mayor Pat Morris
