YESTERDAY IN PARLIAMENT: The VAT on water and money to support a 20% increment for teachers caused controversy. MP Ssewungu insisted that they will not pass the education budget without the raise, while the Minister of Education claims there are no funds. MP Lukyamuzi says that the VAT on water should be eliminated, while Minister Kamuntu responds that the VAT will only be charged on piped, metered water.
