[[ YOU ARE NOT LESS THAN A MAN ]] ...just because you need help!!! Dont let the demon of depression deceive you! Needing help is a natural part of life. Nobody has ever survived or succeeded without the aid of others. In fact, anything noble and noteworthy will require the assistance of others. The will of God for your life will enlist help from other people. If you dont need help doing it, God didnt tell you to do it. Stop beating yourself up because you need help. Dont allow depression to derail you by deceiving you into believing youre a failure because youve stalled. If you need help - ask for it! Get out of that bed. Get up off of that couch. Turn off those reruns! Those stories hadnt changed, but yours can! So what if you lost your job? If you cant find another one - create one! But, youve got to get busy doing something besides wallowing in the pity of your past. There is nothing for you there. You can win again. But, youve got to believe you can! This storm is temporary. I know that the winds are blowing and the seas are raging, but trust me when I tell you - you can survive! There was a season in my life when I had to walk or ride the bus. Regardless of how long each bus ride was or how many people rode with me, I did not familiarize myself with bus schedules. I studied Mercedes Benz brochures! I refused to get comfortable in the wilderness. I did not aim to make friends with a temporary season. I kept my mind and heart on my vision! I kept things in front of me that gave me hope and I surrounded myself with positive people who lived on levels above my own. Two of the worse things you can do is make friends with someone whos negative and someone whos comfortable in mediocrity! Regardless of wgat youve lost, who walked out or how bad youve messed up - you can still win. Dont waste your life trying to rebuild your past successes. Simply build new ones. New opportunities are seized daily. Begin building in your heart, mind and mouth....TODAY! Just yesterday as I was driving my sons to school, I noticed an old red pick up truck parked alongside the road beside a huge oak tree that had fallen. Curiously, after dropping my boys off, I pulled over to the side to inquire about the tree. An older gentleman was there with an ax in his hand chopping logs into firewood. I asked him wouldnt it be easier to chop up those logs with a log splitter? Surprisingly, he said no. He claimed he liked splitting logs the old fashioned way. I offered to let him use my log splitter and finish in about 15 minutes what was going to take him 3 hours. No, Im okay. I get a good workout like this. Ironically I was on my way to the gym, I asked him of he needed any help at all... Again he said no. I decided at that point to have some fun with him. I looked at the 10 logs lying there and said, if you can chop all of these by the time I get back from the gym, Ill give you $500 cash! How long do you think its going to take you? He said hed have them all done in about an hour... Well, Ive chopped wood with an ax. And its nothing to laugh about. I knew he couldnt chop up all of those logs. His ax had duct tape all over it and his wedge was smaller than my smartphone. I made this ridiculous offer to him so that he could rethink the value of his methods of working alone. But, heres your lesson in this: PRIDE IS A KILLER! Many of us men assume were less than a man because another man has a bigger wallet, a bigger car, a finer wife, a bigger house and a bigger following. Dont believe these lies! Every man has his own share of problems and you are not less than a man because youre dealing with yours. And to all of the ladies reading this: Know that that man is not less than a man because he stumbled. Hes not less than a man because he failed. Hes not less than a man because he missed it or it missed him. Hes not less than a man. Hes simply a man who needs your understanding support and prayers. Many men suffer in silence because they know that opening up to you is no different than divulging their location to their worse enemy! You are the most important person in his life and you cannot imagine his frustration in failing in front of you while knowing he cant depend on you.
