YOU DONT EXPECT THIS TO HAPPEN IN A GAME Yep, now Im a basketball coach and there are a LOT of things to be very happy about from tonights game. For me, the least of which was the score (by the way, we were the away team and had only had 1 1/2 practices while the other team had been practicing for weeks --- we won, 22-19 with things to think, not do). Probably the best example of who we are as a team happened tonight when it was a 1 point game late in the fourth quarter. There was a scramble for the ball and it rolled out of bounds. Both refs called it purple ball for us. As I was standing right in front of the play, it appeared to me that it went off from one of our players, so I asked him, Evan, did the ball go off of you? and he was amazing, answering without hesitation, Yes, coach. It did. I went over to the refs and said, It needs to be white ball. It went off from us. The other players bench and coaching staff looked over at us as if to say, What are you doing?. Then I saw the opposing coach survey our bench and noticed that not one of our players was dissappointed about the reversal of the call. Then that same coach looked at me with a look that conveyed a message of, Wow. There is something special about that team. I thought to myself, Yes. Yes there is. We work hard and we have character. And seeing that come to fruition before my eyes made me more proud of our boys tonight than anything else. Col. 3:23 in action.
