The footage was presented in a 24 February press conference in Paris by Dr Natalia Vitrenko, the leader of Ukraine’s Progressive Socialist Party, who has been warning about the rise of these neo-Nazis for a number of years. When you see this footage you will realise that all of the TV news reports you saw on Australian television were censored, so that the public did not see the Nazi violence that the media was reporting as peaceful democratic protests. Dr Vitrenko is a fierce critic of the overthrown government, and condemns both sides for violence, but she shows using raw video footage that the so-called democratic protestors were not a spontaneous gathering of ordinary citizens, but were dominated by organised and trained guerrillas who were intent on instigating a bloody showdown. She acknowledges instances when the Ukrainian police did perpetrate violence, but the footage shows examples of the police exercising enormous constraint to not attack the protestors, even when they were being beaten with sticks and bombed with Molotov cocktails.
