YOU WILL NOT STOP RACISM While responding to a posting yesterday, I realized that there are millions of brothers and sisters who for some reason feel an obligation to stop racism. The whole idea that we as people of color are going to stop something that WE didnt start is ludicrous. Racism isnt something that you can turn on and off like a light switch, racism is stitched into the fabric of America, if you dont believe me, go and ask a Native American brother or sister if he or she believes that they can stop racism, it just sounds stupid. The function of racism is to keep a certain demographic down and its been very effective in the case of the Black Man and Woman in America, very effective indeed. I want to know why we as black people feel its our duty to stop racism? I have never seen any other ethnic group out in the streets marching against racism, no Chinese American groups, no Filipino American groups, no Korean American groups, ONLY US, do we really believe that something as omnipresent as racism is going to stop just because we want it to, thats both foolish and naive. We need to stop talking about racism and start talking about building economic power within the black community, thats a more effective way to combat the ill effects of racism, dont believe me, ask you Jewish shop owner when was the last time he took it to the streets to march against racism? We are actually playing right into the hands of racism, while we are marching, protesting, debating, racism just keeps on building its arsenal to use against us. We need to stop our fascination with what the dominant culture is doing, we need to stop emulating their ways, we need to not question why the dominate culture hates us, but why we havent built our own economic foundation, without the white mans approval. YOU CANNOT STOP SOMETHING THAT YOU DID NOT START. IT IS NOT THE BLACK MAN OR WOMANS JOB TO STOP RACISM, IT IS OUR DUTY TO BUILD OUR OWN PEOPLE. please wake up.
