YOUR ANCHOR An anchor is a device normally made of metal, that is used to connect a vessel to the bed of a body of water to prevent the craft from drifting due to wind or current. Max Lucado sometime told the story of how he and his boat survived a hurricane. He said an old man gave him the advice to take his boat to deep water, drop four anchors off each corner of the boat, and pray that the anchors held. Since the anchors held and did not drift, Max was able to survive that storm! He said that he learned an important lesson: All of us needs an Anchor that will hold during the storms of life. Most people always have the notion that being a child of God will exempt you from the storms of life; I SAY NO! Instead, being a child of God will give you a GREATER and MORE POWERFUL BEING than the one behind the storms, difficulties, and problems in this world. The issue now is not only about the storms we face, but our attitude during storms; do we get driven along, let go of our goals, forget Gods promises, give up on His Word and starts drifting? Do we allow the waves beat us back and forth, and lead us wherever? Do we allow the temporary storm we face get us to the point of despair and make us loose hope? Or perhaps you feel like throwing in the towel right now? My dear brothers/sisters, our attitude during storms is to Anchor in Jesus! God never fails His children. No matter the storms we face; we need not forget that God is in control, He has a plan, He can inject hope into that absolutely hopeless situation. Our attitude during storms is to pray for continuous grace to be calm and confident. It is easier to live like a Christian when things are going great, when all our prayers are being answered; but our real profession of faith is tested when we are faced with storms! We cannot avoid storms but we can avoid being drowned in the storms of life. Storms dont last forever; they are temporal. Whatever storms God permits, He has already provided the needed grace to overcome! As a child of God, storms cannot change Gods original plan for your life, instead it is to bring out the best in you! Storms cannot destroy you, because God’s promise is sure! Beloved, have you anchored in Jesus? God has promised never to leave nor forsake you. Isaiah 43:1 says: When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. As we go this week, lets Anchor ourselves on Gods Word and pray more. Lets trust Him more and have an attitude of positive confession. Soon, your morning will come, because nights dont last forever! This too shall pass, hold on! Singing: Upon life’s boundless ocean where mighty billows roll, I’ve fixed my hope in Jesus, blest anchor of my soul; When trials fierce assail me as storms are gath’ring o’er, I rest upon His mercy and trust Him more. CHORUS: I’ve anchored in Jesus, the storms of life I’ll brave, I’ve anchored in Jesus, I fear no wind or wave; I’ve anchored in Jesus, for He hath pow’r to save, I’ve anchored to the ROCK OF AGES. Do have a victorious week. 4rm Funmibi
