YOUTH WINTER TRAINING CAMP - STARTS MONDAY 9 DEC WHAT IS WINTER TRAINING CAMP (WTC)? Swimmers that have: (1) a qualifying time for the 2014 Tokyo Championships or (2) a qualifying time for the Winter Training Camp are invited to the winter training camp (note - age for Tokyo and WTC is as of the first day of Tokyo, 15 March). WTC QTs are 15% slower than Tokyo QTs. WTC QTs: sdrv.ms/1hhIRdR The WTC (a special training season for qualified and invited youth swimmers, an extension of the Fall season) is for those that want to train through the holidays and are mentally prepared to work hard. Any 10 & under swimmer should speak with a coach. Swimmers that want to swim in the winter training camp, but do not meet a qualifying standard, should speak with their coach; they need to be able to keep up with the group for workout sets. Those swimmers not taking part in winter training are encouraged to enjoy the holidays and get to the pool with their parents two to three times a week and swim for 20-30 minutes, to include some kicking. During the weeks while school is still in session, swimmers that arrive late due to late school release times will join the practice upon arrival. All swimmers should expect to swim until 1700~1720. MS/HS swimmers are encouraged to do doubles - that means two practices a day when offered - this is assuming at least three things: 1. The swimmer is able to get enough sleep each night - at least 8-hours - and at least two of those hours before midnight! 2. The swimmer has a way to practice/school/home during non-bus practices. 3. School work is on track!
