Yahaya Mohammed, Issah Yakubu, Godfred Asante, Abdul Aziz Yusif, - TopicsExpress

Yahaya Mohammed, Issah Yakubu, Godfred Asante, Abdul Aziz Yusif, Michael Akuffo, Murtala Seidu Bancey, Kwabena Adusei, Jordan Opoku are all on their way out for trials with lower division sides in Eastern Europe, or for stints with bottom clubs in Egypt or have negotiated $100,000 deals with newly promoted Libyan sides. These 8 or so players were key/regular members of the club in the just ended league. The last time I checked, Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC was Africas club of the century. And they have been tasked by the Owner king to win the African Champions League this year to pacify his soul, Helloooooooo!!! This is the club that boasts of over 6 million followers, apparently the biggest fanbase in Africa. This is a club thats so fortunate to be located in one of the most football loving cities in the World. This is a club whose fans will pay their last penny to watch its friendly matches provided the team is winning, and this is a club that has so much rich history. Can somebody be bold to tell the top hierarchy to see football as a big business venture and not cultural values and traditions. Which clubs in Ghana are more traditional than Liverpool and Glasgow Celtic? Can the owners of this big club invest heavily in there, appoint competent modern football admins and stop this mediocre leadership from guiding the club. Can they ever stop this trend of inviting friends to a palace as board members whose contribution are felt only in the newspapers and radio? Or better still cant they leave this club in the hands of serious strategic investor for the traditions and culture things to watch from the background before it is too late? So that they make the fans happy whiles they reap in profits like the Ahlys, TP Mazembes and likes? No board member or CEO is a father christams to be spending his life savings on the club when the he knows he can be axed depending on what some few group of supporters say on radio? From my checks, in the last 5 years, this club has sold over 36 players to unknown clubs in Africa and Europe for peanuts. No infrastructure, no continental laurels and the situation keeps worsening. Theyll tell you its as a result of the general economic problems but forget that clubs in worst ecenomies like Sudan, Angola and Congo have been buying their top stars each year. I didnt like all the things Dr KK Sarpong did but if his administration was Tonaton, what becomes of this wholesale policy under this administration too? Is it promotional sales? Fact is this sad trend will continue as long as the club is being driven this way. It is sad. The fans want to contribute but where to even put it and how it would be accounted becomes their headache. This club did get a very strong foundation in the past. This club is so big to be managed this way. But agonisingly it is. Truth is bitter but it must be told. Theyll continue to win the Ghana league all the years but if you cannot keep yourvhead coach from becoming an assistant at national team level, if you cannot keep a team for just 2 years because of money, Hellooo wake up Africa club of the century.
