Yakubu Strikes Goal Number 6 -As Melkam Gives Away Penalty Former Super Eagles striker, Yakubu Aiyegbeni took his goals haul in China to six, as the ex-England-based star again hit the net in action with Chinese Super League club, Guangzhou R&F. The Yak’s effort was good enough to motivate his club to a 2-0 win over Qingdao Jonoon, who featured Nigeria ’99 World Youth Championship Flying Eagles midfielder, Gabriel Chinwuzor Melkam. While Melkam gave away the penalty that led to the second goal against his side, there was nothing to dent flair of the first goal, as Yak scored after 75 minutes in a tight game at Yuexiushan. In the encounter, which marked week 19 of the ongoing Chinese Super League season, ‘The Yak Attack’ received a pass just inside the penalty area and swiveled on a sixpence before driving a low shot into the bottom corner. Rodriguez de Jesus then stepped forward to emphatically drive home the penalty eight minutes from time to seal the win, which takes Yakubu’s Guangzhou-based side to sixth place on the standings with 25 points from 19 matches.
